JENNER CARGO HELP THE KIWI DRIFTERS FOR THE WORLD SERIES BATTLE

JENNER CARGO HELP THE KIWI DRIFTERS FOR THE WORLD SERIES BATTLE
On the announcement of China’s prestigious 2012 World Drift Series,  three seasoned and talented and Kiwi drivers find themselves invited to battle some of the world’s best in just over three weeks time.  The first of the four round series will take place in Tainjin’s Olympic Stadium.

Drift veteran Sean Falconer, three times New Zealand Drift Champion Carl Ruiterman, and stand-out rising New Zealand star Cole Armstrong will enter the competition placed against a strong international field vying for the exciting championship.  The trio will compete for the title as a team as well as individuals, placed well in odds of delivering top-class results with the contending Asian, European and American nations regarding the New Zealand drivers as highly talented and skilled competitors.

For the team’s youngest member, 25 year old Cole Armstrong from Tauranga the invite has been a dream come true.  “Representing your country is what every sportsperson aims for, and after working hard with three professional seasons behind us now it’s been amazing and rewarding to get the call up to China”.  This is the second time representing New Zealand in Drifting for Armstrong, who competed internationally in his V-Energy Nissan R34 Skyline last September during the World Time Attack Trans Tasman Drift Challenge in Australia.

For Ruiterman it’s a return to the competition which saw him qualify in 6th place during 2011, and now the Pukekohe driver has more reason to perform than ever.  “This time around, I’m fortunate enough to be driving my own car, the championship winning E&H Motors Nissan Silvia S14 which I know inside-out.  I will be much more comfortable pushing it to the limit; it’s a world class vehicle which deserves a world class stage”.

Competing on the back a request from series organisers who have followed and loved Sean Falconers determined style, the impressive and accomplished Drifter is looking forward to getting back in the battle-seat.  “Although I haven’t competed in New Zealand for a while, the itch has always remained there and the invitation to compete in WDS is one I couldn’t turn down.  We’ve rebuilt the car specifically for the series (a Nissan RB26 S13 Silvia) and we’re firing on all cylinders show the field what we’ve got.”

The vehicles leave for China on Friday thanks to Jenner Cargo International, with drivers following in two weeks time to join the competition.  Two more rounds in the series will see the drivers travelling back and forth between New Zealand and Australia prior to the final battle for 2012, which takes place in Hangzhou on October 27.

Dangerous Good Changes

So the powers that be have decided that motor vehicles that are containerised for shipping now need to be classified as Dangerous Goods and this came into effect in January this year. The only exception to this is that the vehicles need to be drained of any fuel, batteries disconnected and terminals covered - along with a letter from the shipper or loader to verify this has been done. The public wonders why this has come into effect and so do some of the experts in the DG field - my little birdies tell me a fuel tank is more combustalble empty than full due to the gas vapours. Here's hoping this ruling gets reversed as it has bene done previously. Tracey

2012 Trace's April Pick of the Month

2012 Trace's April Pick of the Month
Ok so for something different this month i have picked this 2011 Cadillac Hearse, which was 1 of 2 that we just imported from California, USA to Auckland, NZ.

These Hearse's sure are a very stylish, although a vehicle that none of us would like to take a ride in prematurely. But I have no doubt that the drivers of these vehicles will be very proud operators.

JANUARY 2012 IMPORTED VEHICLE INSPECTIONS

JANUARY 2012 IMPORTED VEHICLE INSPECTIONS

As of 16th January 2012 the border clearance of imported used vehicles changed. This now means that MAF will no longer undertake the structural inspections on imported vehicles & as agents we will now have to contract a third party to do this - so vehicles now need 2 inspection releases before they can be released from either the Customs Controlled Area or MAF transitional facilities - MAF for Quarantine risks and NZTA for structural.

We have heard of a few hiccups and a couple of misunderstandings into how and when a vehicle maybe transferred to the Importers control but this is slowly being ironed out.

So far so good from our point of view for any vehicles under our control in our warehouse, we are pretty much lining up MAF and our NZTA agent to come in and complete their inspections at the same time to save as much double handling on vehicles as we can.

Another change that has come into effect is the raised emissions standards which took effect for vehicles registered from 1st January 2012 - this will affect most vehicles manufactured after 1990. Check out www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicle/classes-standards/environment.html for futher information.

TRACE'S DECEMBER 2012 PICK OF THE MONTH

TRACE'S DECEMBER 2012 PICK OF THE MONTH
OK, so they say a leopard can't change its spots & boy have I tried - I did have something else planned for my December pick of the Month - until I set my eyes on this & sat in the drivers seat - I even tried asking for an upgrade on my company car - the answers from both my boss & the new owners weren't quite the positive outcome I was hoping for myself.

So while this little beauty was here I made the most of heading out to our warehouse several times a day to perv at this mint orange 2010 Camaro SS Indianpolis 500 Pace Car while it was under our careful control and my very watchful eye.

All I want for Christmas is.........

TRACE'S NOVEMBER 2012 PICK OF THE MONTH

TRACE'S NOVEMBER 2012 PICK OF THE MONTH

November 2011 and how could I resist this awesome 1957 Buick Wagon that recently came in from the USA - which couldn't be walked past by anyone here at Jenners without them stopping to take a closer look, with its after market chrome wheels shining at us, it's 2 toned paint job and very original interior who could resist what would be a very cool & classic cruiser (some even said it reminded them of 1 of the old Tip Top adverts).

2011 Speedway Sidecar 1000cc Champs

2011 Speedway Sidecar 1000cc Champs

Jenner Cargo have been involved in the shipping and logistics of 2 out of the 5 Speedway Sidecar 1000cc teams from NZ to Adelaide to compete against teams from the UK, Europe & Australia in the FIM World Sidecar Champs. If you happen to be in Adelaide on the 12th November head to Murray Bridge Speedway to check out this event & support the teams of Andrew Buchanan / Phillipa Burns & Paul Humphrey / Ben Franklin.

1 of the teams consisting of rider Paul Humphrey & swinger Ben Franklin (who have only became team mates in the 2010/2011 season - Paul having been a swinger for another team for 5 years & Ben jumping onboard to be Paul's swinger after Paul decided to invest in a bike of his own) have the honour of being invited by Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme to represent NZ in the championship after a UK team pulled out - all other teams had to qualify inlcuding Andrew Buchanan and Phillippa Burns. So unlike the other teams that have had 8 months to prepare Paul & Ben had a week from getting the phone call to pack the bike & get it to Jenners in time to meet the ship.

If anyone is interested in sponsoring or donating to either of these teams for either this tour or their upcoming 2011/2012 NZ Season please give Tracey at Jenners a call and she can put you in touch either.

So we are looking forward to seeing the results from our NZ teams - Good luck Andrew, Phillippa, Paul & Ben.

Trace's October Pick of the Month

Trace's October Pick of the Month

Trace's pick of the month for October was this little gem of a 1961 E-Type Jaguar. This beauty reminded us all of something that should be featured in a classic James Bond movie. With it's very cosy interior there's no room for anyone too tall to fit into this car unless the tops down. So off we shipped in it's own special container to it's new owner in Australia. We hope you enjoy.

Valvoline Trans Tasman Challenge

Jenners are happy to be involved with the shipping of 10 race car teams from through out New Zealand to take on the best of the Australians in a trans tasman saloon car series, which will be run throughout Victoria, over 5 thrilling nights.  The Valvoline Trans Tasman Challenge, will pit 10 top quality teams from New Zealand against 10 top quality Australian teams, with the current 1nz and 2nz cars, along with past national champions making the journey to challenge the Australians. The North Island team consisting of 6 race cars were safely loaded into Cartainer and container at the CSL yard on a reasonably fine Saturday.

One Cartainer was then sent to Christchurch to load up the 4 South Island cars.  However it was lucky to get to Lyttelton unscathed after a freak storm attacked most other containers on the vessel Spirit of Resolution.  The Cartainer is the cream one on the left, in the middle of the vessel.  Unfortunately the vessel did get damaged which delayed the arrival of the container in Christchurch.

However the team from Paddy North Racing loaded the cars up quickly and now its on its way to Australia for the series.
The cartainer sent to Christchurch managed to fit 4 Super Saloons in plus all of the spares, parts and tools required for the trip. One cartainer was supplied for the north island teams, housing 4 cars and spares, and a general container was used for the last 2 cars.
All arrived safely to Melbourne, where the cars and spares were unpacked and checked by Australian Quarantine Inspection Services. As all of the teams had done a wonderful job on ensuring their cars were contaminant free, AQIS gave the green light to release the dirt track racing cars fairly quickly.

The series starts about 600kms north of Melbourne at the Mildura race track on October 22, then moves to Swan Hill on the 23rd, Moama on the 24th. Hamilton on the 30th and finishes up in Bacchus Marsh on the 31st.

We’ll keep you posted of how they get on but check out Paddy’s site for more pictures of the loading. www.paddynorth.co.nz
Or check out the official Challenge website at www.supers.co.nz

Good Luck guys, go win the series for New Zealand!!
